Description: The Museum Studies Program encompasses theoretically oriented analyses of museums as cultural institutions, as well as applied aspects of working in museums and related agencies. The M.A. degree program is anthropological and candidates are expected to achieve graduate level competence in the discipline as well as in museum studies. The Certificate program accepts non-degree candidates and students working toward advanced degrees in other fields of study. Internships are integral to both programs.

Description: The Cooperstown Graduate Program, founded in 1964, prepares students for professional careers in museums. A Cooperstown degree combines a strong base in research and the critical study of American material culture and civilization with a museum-learning model that includes courses and practical experiences in museum administration, education, exhibition and collections care. The small, but diverse student body from across the country works closely with faculty and museum staff with a focus on museums as places of public service that foster community and education.

Description: Museum Studies at Florida State University and our participating museums, the Ringling Museum, Appleton Museum and Museum of Fine Arts, provide a unique course of study for students interested in museum work. Our mission is to provide insights to all museum areas and a foundation upon which students will build their careers. The program’s interdisciplinary nature offers multiple perspectives so that our graduates have diverse career options to pursue. Description: Combines traditional academic training in both academic subjects and museum practices and the practical experience that is necessary to begin a successful museum career. The forty-two credit hour program combines an academic core - typically anthropology, history, or American Studies -- and a museum studies core, which emphasizes administration, collections management, or exhibition development, chosen in consultation with both a museum studies and an academic core advisor. The Certificate in Museum Studies is an eighteen credit hour program for international museum professionals who wish to study museum practices in the United States or those who already hold advanced degrees in an academic discipline.

Description: Museum Studies at IUPUI is a multidisciplinary program that prepares people to serve museums and their communities.  With hands-on learning, students can focus their Indiana University Masters Degree or Graduate Certificate curriculum in education, exhibit development, administration, collections, or curatorial practices.  IUPUI, a partnership between Indiana University and Purdue University, is an urban university within walking distance of half a dozen museums and students partner with museums on projects throughout Indianapolis.

Description: LHC's "Handling History" program of hands-on workshops and professional development symposia are developed and presented with support from the NYSCA Museum Program and the Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS). 6-12 programs per year are offered specifically to staff, volunteers and trustees of museums/ historical organizations in the Hudson Valley and metro NY-CT-NJ region. No matter what your degree- no matter your salary: if you find yourself in a position responsible for the care and management of historical collections, you can use direct, hands-on training under a faculty of professional conservators & curators. Description: The MSU MSP is a 15-credit specialization comprised of five courses that provide an overview of museum history as well as a solid grounding in museological theory and practice. Description: The MEPD Program provides training in the theory and practice of exhibition planning and design. Exhibition planners and designers are expected to have an understanding of such issues as wayfinding, psychological motivation, marketing, learning theory, three-dimensional aesthetics, museology, and contemporary museum practice; and technical skills including contemporary digital tools and media blended with the traditional hand-and-eye abilities required for exhibition design.
